Short Bio

With over 20 years as a filmmaker and 15 years teaching at the American Film Institute, Columbia University, and the Sundance Institute, Tal Lazar has guided leaders, creators, and students alike in transforming abstract ideas into stories that resonate. As a business leader at MiLa Media and founder of the EdTech startup Quonder, he turned vision into results across industries. Today, he brings that unique blend of film, education, and business experience to help leaders and teams communicate with cinematic impact: sparking emotion, inspiring action, and building lasting connection.

Long Bio

Tal Lazar brings over 20 years of experience as an award-winning filmmaker, 15 years as a professor at top universities, and a business leadership track record at the intersection of technology, education, and entertainment.

As a cinematographer, producer, and director, his work spans continents, from three box-office hits in Vietnam to more than a dozen feature films and hundreds of productions in the U.S. In higher education, he has taught some of the most sought-after cinematic storytelling courses at institutions including the American Film Institute Conservatory, Columbia University, and the City College of New York. He has also lectured worldwide, from the Yanjing Institute of Technology in China to the Sundance Institute in the U.S., with online workshops featured by Berklee College of Music, MZed.com, and more.

An innovator from an early age, Lazar received the Israeli President’s Award for his pioneering work in technology, later founding EdTech startup Quonder, leading production studio MiLa Media, and establishing Latent Media Group, a cross-media publishing and consulting agency.

Today, he combines his background in film, education, and business to help leaders and organizations communicate with cinematic impact, emotion, and purpose. His forthcoming book, Cinematography Beyond Technique, will be published by Routledge in 2025.
